Summer Staff FAQs

Yes. You must have graduated high school by the summer of 2024 or completed one year of college.
*Students graduating by summer of 2025 and are rising college freshmen are eligible for Junior Staff.

The sooner, the better! We will close the application process as soon as we have filled our roster for 2025 staff.

Yes. We value characteristics such as initiative, drive, and ambition. Procrastination is never a good quality. Submitting your application early will qualify you for acceptance and increase your odds of being hired.

Some new and returning staff may have either a FaceTime or in-person interview. If you are interviewed, you will be notified via text or email to schedule an interview time. If we happen to call you at a time that is inconvenient, please do not be afraid to ask us to call back at a later time.

Camp is held at Anderson University in Anderson, South Carolina from June 9-July 26. Staff training week is June 9-15. It is mandatory that you be at all of staff training to work camp and a stipend will be provided for meals during this time. (For those of you taking summer school, please check your class schedule before you apply.) You will need to plan to be at camp until 10am on Saturday, July 26.

Yes. However, you will have time off after lunch on Friday through Sunday morning during camp if there is something you need to do. Such requests will need to be approved by Head Staff beforehand. We have staff socials on the weekends that we strongly encourage all staff to attend.

Yes. We pay the following salaries:
Year One - $1,400 7-week pay (includes training)
Year Two - $1,575 7-week pay (includes training)
Year Three+ - $1,750 7-week pay (includes training)You can raise support as well in order to supplement your pay for the summer.
Pay will increase with any Leadership/Admin Coordinator role.
Our Summer Staff pay scale includes a weekly wage as well as covered meals from Sunday dinner thru Friday lunch and University housing. You also have a unique opportunity for friends, neighbors, and family to invest in the ministry you will be doing here at Crossroads Summer Camp. You will have the opportunity to raise funds through June 1st from your community that will be evenly distributed across the six weeks of camp to reflect in your weekly wages. You will receive more information about how that will work in the interview process.

If you are hired, you will need to be both Adult CPR and First Aid certified by the American Red Cross or American Heart Association (two separate certifications). We will notify you if you have to complete this on your own or if a group training option will be provided by the ministry. If we require you to complete this certification on your own, a reimbursable amount will also be specified and certification must be submitted digitally by June 1st.
This is the only training that you will need before camp. We will do all other training (advising, activities, etc.) when you arrive.

You will be responsible, first and foremost, for interacting with teenagers throughout the day; at meals, at worship services, on activities, and in the dorms. You will be responsible for setting up, leading, and participating in an afternoon activity; such as sports tournaments, outdoor activities or creative activities.
You will be responsible for miscellaneous staff chores throughout the summer; such as selling merchandise, running cameras, etc. You will also be responsible for advising students at the end of the evening worship services and any other appropriate time. You will receive a much more detailed staff description if hired.
